Browns fans and media are a hypocritical and racists!!!

In listening to sports talk in Cleveland one can't help but, to highlight and point out the contradictions of the Cleveland fans and media in how to build the Browns back up so, they can eventually become a championship team.  I've listened long enough to the point where I need to point out these contradictions and I do go with the theory that Cleveland fans AND media don't want to see a Black QB with the Browns!!!

Contradiction#1

You build a team around the QB:  I don't subscribe to this theory because I have seen it work both ways, however, most GM's in the NFL would say this is how you build a team.  With the unfair rules that clearly favor the offense and the NFL wanting to generate more revenue by getting more high scoring games and making the game more exciting to the average fan, getting offensive players and namely a QB is the way to go.

Carmen Policy who was the CEO of the Browns in 99' let it be known from day one that you build a team a round a  QB.  SUPPOSEDLY,  the QB is the most important person in the Franchise and that he was going to indeed keep up with conventional wisdom and choose a QB with the first pick in the draft.  During the process Chris Palmer was hired because of his experience in picking out , developing and handling QB's.  As the draft got closer it was obvious that the Browns had the choice of clearly the better player in Ricky Williams and and QB's Akili Smith and Tim Couch.  Palmer wanted Akili Smith but, was overruled by Policy and the Lerner because of...   Well, they could never give us a reason why they overruled him.

To those that weren't fooled such as BSK, Rich Passon and myself we knew that it had everything to do with Tim Couch being white and Smith being black and that marketing toward the fan base played a role in why Tim Couch was selected.  Tim Couch went on to have a very bad career exhibiting zero arm strength and very mediocre skills as I predicted throughout the entire process(BTW, Donovan McNabb and Daunte Culpepper were in that draft and weren't considered).

Fast forward to 11':  Clearly anyone that knows anything about football can clearly see that the Browns need a QB.  Colt McCoy can't get the job done.  He can only throw two yard dink and dunks and simply doesn't possess the physical skills to be able to handle the position going forward.   The Browns by the end of Sunday could very well have the 3rd pick in the 12' draft coming up.

Witht the third pick in the draft it's a good chance that Robert Griffin III will be there, however, you have a large segment of fans and media who say that the Browns should wait and fill other needs before filling the QB position.    WAIT!!!  Yes, these were the same fans who twelve years ago , WITH AN EXPANSION TEAM said that the Browns should build a team around a QB and that taking a RB that high will not improve the team because a RB will not make it past five years because of the beating he will take behind a porous OL.

I ask these fans and media people which one is it?? Do you build a team around a QB or don't you ??  This wreaks of a double standard especially when you consider the fact that the Browns have an established team  with pieces in place as opposed to an expansion team and considering how desperate the team  and city is for a Franchise QB.  Robert Griffin III is the best QB prospect I've ever scouted in terms of the total package and the fans and media want to pass on this opportunity, WOW!!!

Contradiction #2:

Browns have to many holes to fill:  Expanding on the theory that you build a team around a QB.  The fans and media say the Browns have other holes to fill and should concentrate on filling them, however, these are the same fans and media people who ask if the Browns should take the few precious resources the have to get the pieces they need and try to get Andrew Luck!!!

I ask if you have some many needs and need all your resources then why would you use all those resources to get one guy who IMHO, is more polished at this point but, long term won't be as good??!!!!  It absolutely "ZERO" sense considering the holes on your team, the strong possibility that you could get a better player, and the asking price that it will take to get this player(last reported if Indy get the pick will be a minimum of six first round picks).   Do you, or don't have the resources and how much better is Luck over Griffin.  None in my opinion but, it points to a contradiction of how the people use excuses to push their agendas.

Contradiciton #3:

RG3 played in a conference that didn't play defense:  This is true but, people forget that Mike Holmgren tried desperately to get up to #1 in the 10' draft to get Sam Bradford.  Where did Sam Bradford come from ??  You got it:  the same exact conference that RG3 is coming from.  Where was the media and fans to raise objection to Holmgren trying to get Bradford??  I listen alot to Cleveland Sports talk and didn't hear ONE OBJECTION TO Mike Holmgren trying to get Bradford and not one saying that he played in a conference that played no defense.

Oh yeah BTW, where are these same individuals when they talk about Andrew Luck not playing in conference that doesn't play defense??  Any given Saturday the Pac 10 is known to have scores well within the 40's and 50's!!!  This is yet another contradiction by the fans and media.

Contradiction #4:

We need a QB that played in a pro style offense:  Again on the Sam Bradford Comparison:  Not only did Sam Bradford play in the same conference as RG3 but, he played in the same style offense of RG3.  Why weren't these concerns brought up when Mike Holmgren tried to get Bradford in10'??  Why is this being Brought up now??  Again, it shows that the media and fans have personal agendas in their contradictions of what they want and don't want.

In my opinion, this shows that Cleveland is a very hypocritical region with bigots and racists abound who simply don't want to see a Black QB running the show in this region.  It shows that the region still hasn't grown up and doesn't deserve a winner until they not only acknowledge these things but, take meaningful steps to correct these shortcomings and until they do they will find it increasingly to get start athletes to get them out of the funk of losing and ignorance that so much plagues the region!!!!

What Browns should do in the offseason 3.0

People always ask the questions what should the Browns do this offseason to get people excited again,  I've decided to give some details on what I would do if I were the Browns, with a realistic approach to get the Browns deep within the playoffs next year.

Resign:

Peyton Hillis and D'Qwell Jackson, Phil Dawson and Usama Young:

Analysis:

Hillis will give the Browns that bruising type back that is needed to establish the running game especially in the later parts of the year and considering that Montario Hardesty can't be counted on because of Injuries.  Jackson will give the Browns some stability at the LB position and is coming off a very solid season with a bunch of tackles.  Young has played well at times and hasn't played well at other times but, would give the Browns time to groom someone to eventually take over.

Free Agency:

DeSean Jackson

Rocky McIntosh

Demetrius Bell

Paul Soliai

Analysis:

DeSean Jackson is a player that can give the Browns both a threat via the long ball and in the punt return game as well.  He would team up beautifully with the Greg Little and Momass to give, I believe a very solid WR unit.

Rocky McIntosh is a veryathletic, solid, young veteran LB that will give the Browns speed at that position and will allow them to groom someone younger without having to force them to start right away.

Demetrius Bell:  would give the Browns a young, athletic RT that would significantly upgrade that position in terms of run blocking and would look to get him better in terms of pass blocking.

Paul Soliai:  Soliai, would give the Browns a tough, hard nosed run stuffer to work in a awesome tandem with Rubin, Taylor and  Paxson. His presence would give the Browns much needed depth along the DL.

Draft:

round one: Robert Grffin III, QB Baylor

round one: Andre Branch, DE Clemson

round two:  Chase Minnifield,  CB Virginia

round three: Travis Lewis, LB Oklahoma

round four:  Nate Potter, OT Boise State

round four:  Brandon Joiner,  DE Arkansas State

round five:  George Iloka, S Boise State

round six: Curnelius Arunick, ILB Tulsa

Analysis:

RG3:  Big time Talent, can make all passes with touch and velocity.  Is as accurate as anyone in the draft and extremely mobile.  Does need to polish up in few areas and might not be ready to take over the very first game of the preseason but, will be clearly the best QB by the end of camp.

Andre Branch.  Has the chance to be that explosive pass rusher the Browns so desperately need.  He is very athletic and can run.  He would be counted on to give the Browns big production from day one.  He does lack consistency at times but, that can be over come.

Chase Minnifield:  This pick had nothing to do with the fact that his father is a legend with the Browns but, because this guy can flat out play.  I was torn between Minnifield and Janoris Jenkins and flipped a coin to get Minnifield and because he's an inch taller.  The kid can play and plus he has terrific Blood lines.   He will be counted on heavily to give the Browns good production from day one.

Travis Lewis:  With the addition of Rocky McIntosh, Lewis would be able to concentrate on Special Teams and then ease his way into the position. He is fast and athletic but, sometimes lacks the consistency in production that is needed.  He would do well to sit for a year or two to get ready to take over for McIntosh or Gocong.

Nate Potter:  A good, athletic big man that hasn't completely filled out and won't be asked to come in a play right away.  This will be good for all parties because he will have time to work on strength and learn how to play at this level.  The tools are in place but, sitting him for a year and maybe two won't hurt at all.

Brandon  Joiner:  Joiner is an exciting athletic prospect that would be worked in gradually as strictly a rotation DE.  Substituting with Andre Branch, Sheard and Marcus Bernard.  With the Addition of Paul Soliai it will give the Browns a legit eight deep to keep the DL fresh.

George Iloka:  Iloka is a tall, hard hitting S from Boise State. He is fast and plays well is space.  He does struggle at times in coverage but, that can be overcome with coaching because this guy definitely has the ability to cover with his speed.

Cornelius Arnick:  Is a tough, fairly athletic inside linebacker who would concentrate on special teams but, provide much needed depth at the linebacker position

Matt Dolan...

The new gov't of Cuyahoga County has been in office for a year now and we have seen some success in the form of an ethics code and different people held accountable in certain positions, however, we have yet to see the type of streamlining and improvement of the economic development side that we were promised(remember, this is the number one job of this Charter gov't).

I was a supporter of Ken Lanci in the race for County Exec but, I did like the platform of Matt Dolan.  Matt Dolan would have given us the change the area so desperately needs.  He would have cut the staff by more than what we have now, had a strict ethics code in which those violators would be terminated immediately who violated, championed the support of SB5 and destroyed the local Democratic Machine which has done nothing but, lay waste of the region and drive smart people out of region to ensure the selfishness that's been going on!!!

Matt Dolan didn't win because the African American Community refuse to be open minded and at the same time only listen to those SO CALLED leaders who have lead them astray to the point where they feel that they are unable to think for themselves.  In saying this, I hope Matt Dolan is taking note of the lack of progress of our current County Executive , saving his money and making connections to strengthen himself in front of some objective elected officials, business people and leaders in order to finally overthrow the machine and the machine candidates that have continued business as usual.

I would be out supporting him in this quest from day one !!!

Nina Tuner

I am so pleased to see that Nina Turner has decided to run against Marcia Fudge.  For to long this area has followed SO CALLED leaders such as Pinkey, Forbes and Stokes to only do their bidding for them, while not getting progress for the area.  They have continued to support individuals who will tow the party line and do as they pleased.  This has proven to be devastating to the African American population of the county but to NEO has well.

Enter Nina Turner, I am not going to tell you that I agree  with alot of the things she has said or positions that she has taken but, I will say that she is an upgrade over Marcia Fudge.  I say this because Nina has come out and spoken on issues that have disappointed the political black establishment in the region such as issue 6 and being called names because she took this position and spoken about the gatekeepers mentality of the local black establishment.  Nina has shown that she will do what is right, even when it's unpopular and that is why I am proud to support her in her quest to dethrone Marcia Fudge and spit in the face of the local black establishment!!!

Why Blacks in NEO shouldn't be allowed to vote...

Once again Cleveland has come to the unfortunate, well known act of voting for incompetent leadership because of the name, party or because they are simply to lazy to do any homework necessary to change.  This unfortunate behavior is the real reason why the area has gone to a virtual hell and the reason why it will continue to do so if this behavior doesn't stop!!!

Let's take a look at this past Election where we had a judge who received a ZERO rating from all four bar associations. One of the Bar Associations was from some black lawyers who do these types of ratings!!  Judge Angela Stokes has been accused of doing things from ordering unneccessary drug and alcohol tests to repeatedly firing Baliffs because she simply didn't like them.  If his isn't enough folks, she has been barred from doing anymore hiring and has been accused from alot of lawyers from taking uneccessary time to get cases done.  That being the case she beat a very well respected lawyer in Ed Wade who would have restored some sanity to the bench and much needed integrity that came with it.

The reason why this was done was because the NIGGAS in the Cleveland area voted for her because of her father(who has done more damage than good-that is for another day) and because they are simply to lazy to try and do something else.  This is one reason why blacks in Cleveland and if you will, should be barred from voting altogether until they have proven they have demonstrated the neccessary skill in doing homework to know who to vote for.

The other example of this unfortunate ignorance can be shown in the case of Earle B Turner.  This guy was shown to not have come to work for months at a time and when confronted about it, gave a lame excuse of having not punched in because he rode his bike to work.  If this isn't enough, that has been reported by newspapers about the level of incompetence and cronyism that plagues his department of Clerk of Courts. Incompetence such as not sending hundreds of tickets to the State Bureau of Motor vehicles to notify of those who have suspended licenses and those who continue to drive with suspended licenses.  This incompetence from an elected official simply cannot be tolerated but, it is by the NIGGAS of Cleveland who deserve to get the government in which they deserve!!!

Where the Browns failed...

The people of NEO and Browns fans around the world seem appalled by the lack of success by the Browns this year.  I don't understand how you can be so surprised because it was obvious that they weren't going to be that good this year for alot of reasons, it's so unfortunate that the people use emotion and hope than sound logic and reasoning when it comes to Browns!!!

Look at it, from Previous posts I have mentioned the obvious and abundant deficiencies in his game.  I won't go into detail on what they are but, it's enought to put a stanglehold on the Browns' offense!!! It was apparent to me while Colt was in TX that he wouldn't cut in the NFL and unfortunately that has been true!!!

The other thing is that Front office of the Browns failed. In saying that, I must say I did like the draft a whole lot and it has proven to be plentiful in the first half of the season.  The Browns' failed when they weren't aggressive in pursuing free agents to help out and speed up the process of making this team a winner.

In order for the Browns to be successful the Front office is going to have to put aside the personal dislike for this process and get impact players via free agency.  This doesn't mean go out and sign alot of high priced guys but, it does mean that they need to be smart about using this.  It helps to fill out the roster and it shows the fans that you are serious about winning and won't be to stubborn to just rely on the draft.  Finally, not all your picks are going to pan out and you will need guys to fill those gaps and the holes are far to plentiful to just rely on draft, too

Economic Development in NEO

In attending the  County economic development meeting given by the County Council, I came away more discouraged then ever before!!  I went to the meeting to find out how and what the process was for Ed Fitzgerald to put together his $100 million economic development plan.  I was hoping to see and hear things that will show me that we will be on our way to bringing jobs to the region with new industries, no way of doing things.  As you might know from previous posts.  I have serious doubts if Ed and his staff can accomplish much and unfortunately I am being proven right!!!

In listening to the presentations I was stunned on some of the details that hadn't been considerd while coming up the policy to impliment the program.  The fund will go to small businesses and from that it will go thru a series of vetting processes that will decide who and what to fund these small businesses.  The problem is that we won't know how long this process is going to be, will be based on the companies gov't signing the no poaching agreement ??

Jack Schron asked the question if it will be an appeal process for those companies rejected and Nate Kelley hadn't considered the prospect.  Whatever happened to the merging of the departments, the selling of the county assets, the  Development of the Lakefron that Ed promised during the campaign while 92.3 WCPN ??

These are the continued issues and on why  Ed Fitzgerald wasn't the person for this position and why the County is where it is because you choose names, party, color of skin and allow influence from those that will benefit the most to steer you in the wrong direction.  As a result, you have this huge corruption scandal because they felt that no matter what they do, they were going to be put back into office because you are sleep at the wheel!!!

Colt McCoy...

Yet again we arrive at a point where we are trying to push a QB with very suspect and mediocre skills because he fits the image of what the county is all about.  Yet again we are at a point where we try to put blame of anyone and everyone because we refuse to accept the fact that the limitations of Colt McCoy are killing the offense of the Browns and making it easy for defenses to defend the Browns offense.  We have seen this movie before with QB's like Brian Sipe, Bernie Kosar, Tim Couch, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Charlie Frye and now Colt McCoy.

In looking at the Colt McCoy it was obvious to me when he was in college that his game wouldn't translate to the NFL game.  Alot of people jumped for joy when he was drafted by the Browns. I didn't for a variety of reasons.  I didn't see the arm strength consistently downfield and didn't see him being able to throw his receivers open when they were in tight coverage, which is so often the case in the NFL.

Couple of things that has surprised/disappointed me is the that he is unable to recognize blitzes and audible to the appropriate defenses and the other thing is his lack of accuracy in the short passing game.  If you're keeping score we have a QB that is simply unable to throw the ball deep so defenses are able to zero in on certain parts of the field instead of defending the entire field, he can't read blitzes and defenses, therefore, it allows the defenses to stack the box to take away the running game and it allows them to blitz because he not only holds on to the ball to long but, isn't accurate enough to hit open WR's once they are open.  This makes the offense of line look bad because when teams blitz, they cannot block everyone but, someone is open downfield and the QB is unable to take advantage.

The sad part about is that we have those media members and fans who blame the coaches, the WR's the Oline for the obvious failures of the QB.  They fail to realize that the better QB's don't have all pro skilled players, they don't have superior OL's,what they do have is superior QB play that knows how to get the ball to the people when they are open and respected by the defenses so they have to play the entire field!!

One day the people will set aside personal likes and get to the point where talent and skill is what is most important!!!

SB5

Once again the people of OH had a chance to bring forth real change and once again the people of OH have failed.  I say this with the unsuccessful passage of SB5 we will once again have the status quo because the people failed to understand that the STATUS QUO IS UNACCEPTABLE.  They failed to see that what has been going on for the past 30+ years is unsustainable and cannot go on any longer.

We have unions, who are nothing more than the primary funding for the Democratic agenda.  In case you aren't aware the cycle goes like this.  While Democrats are in office they support Unions who want more protection and rights and in return the Unions provide Democrats with campaign contributions, endorsements and votes!!!  If you don't believe this then you should go and see where Ed Fitzgerald received his votes and check out the county corruption scandal where it was obvious that Democrats and unions were working hand to hand to steal taxpayer money and continue business as usual that has gotten us to be the 45th biggest city when we were once the 6th biggest!!

The obvious problem is the ignorant people of the state who let emotional commercials get in the way of what was best for the state to become competitive with other states that are simply eating our lunch and will continue too.  The days of Unions demanding stair step raises in times of austerity, unfair work practices, etc has to come to an end.

One day the people of OH will wake up and have a clear cut vision of who and what they want to be but, until then the people will continue to twist in the wind and lose population, reputation and become even less competitive!!!

Do we want Jobs or not ...??

Do we want jobs or not ??  I ask this question because the number one problem facing America is jobs.  For NEO it has been the number one problem for the past 40 years. If you know that this is the problem then why do we make it so hard to do business in NEO and elect people who don't have to clue to bring jobs and economic development to the area ???

Outsiders from around the globe are watching how we conduct business and trying to determine if they would not only like to bring their company or employees here but, their family and friends.  When you keep electing people who don't have a clue and use the fact that they are Democrat, Black, connected to someone known etc, it sends a message that you don't have a clue about what you're doing at the ballot box and if that is the case then why should an outsider care more than you do.  The end result is that those elected officials use those emotional things to exploit the most vulnerable and keep the people who want to boost the area up to extraordinary heights -down.  These people need those positions to get the funding needed to get things done and YOU aren't allowing it because of ignorance!!!

If we are get ourselves out of this we must become aware of these people and get them out of office asap because they have done nothing for 40 years and won't do anything.  You will see the jobs start to come back, the lakefront being developed (finally), people with entrepeneurial experience come and the area will thrive once again.

Your call folks, make it happen!!!

Ed Fitzgerald...

In creating the new charter government, we wanted a leader to have the single minded focus of creating jobs and economic development for the region.  This individual would be responsible for going out and getting the current companies to expand, consolidating municipalities, getting companies from outside the state and country to relocate to NEO.  In unfortunately, the sheep like behavior of the people of Cuyahoga County lead us to chose someone like Ed Fitzgerald who is beholden to the Democratic elite and most importantly has never created jobs and economic development.

Ed will use the excuse that he is taking time to clean up some of the departments within the county, which is a good thing but, he forgets that we have a County Prosecutor, a Inspector General (position created by Ed), Sheriff Department and FBI working closely within the region.  Also, Ed forgets that  he is suppose to be guided toward Economic Development not Law Enforcement.  Yet another reason why Ed was not only NOT qualified but, he was one of the worse people for this position out of the six candidates( I would put Ed fifth out of the six candidates).  Even the trimming of county staff hasn't been up to par, Ed has laid off around 300 people to this point, which pales in comparison to what was suppose to be done by now in eliminating thousands of jobs and taking the money and putting it towards economic development.

After one year since winning the election Ed has yet to merge the departments of the Treasury, Recorder and Auditor.  We still have a treasurer and recorder(weren't these positions suppose to be eliminated almost six months ago)??  He put out a five year economic development plan that stated what we already knew in terms of the resources we had and what we can do with them.  To this point Ed has yet to tell how, when and where he is going to use his $100 million economic development plan,   Ed has yet to put for sale the  county entities that can bring about much needed revenue to the region, one of the hallmarks of Ed's April state of the county speech was that he wanted to give Scholarships to college bound students but, it was later found that the council is to administer this process and not the Executive( Ed, did you read the charter)???

All in all, Ed Fitzgerald seems like a fish out of water because soon we will be more than a year behind in where we are suppose to be in terms of where the charter demanded .  Ed is bad news for the region and us realizing the awesome potential we as a region have with proper leadership.

Redistricting...

I was pleasantly surprised about reading about the redistricting within the county.  As you know, I am for destroying the Democratic Machine within Cuyahoga County.  I am truly disgusted by the things that they have done to keep power amongst themselves at the expense of making this a tremendous region for everyone to share in.  I will do whatever I can to make sure the message is out in order to get those individuals who were not only apart of destroying this area but, those individuals who stood on the sidelines knowing what these individuals were doing and did nothing.  It's time for a new beginning in Cuyahoga County. One that is free from patronage hirings, pay to play, kick back schemes and racial politicking that we all know to well.

I will be supporting Marcy Kaptur over Kucininch.  It's time for Dennis to go.  We have had enough of his running for President, his dependency on unions and his allegiance to the Democratic Machine. I am not the biggest Kaptur person in the world but, she is an upgrade over Dennis.

I am hoping that Vernon Sykes decides to run against Marcia Fudge.  Fudge owes here position to the Black, Democratic elite who decided they wanted another black woman to take over the position vacated by the passing of Stephanie Tubbs  Jones.  This is problematic in itself  because Fudge owes everything to the Democratic Party.  She opposed issue 6 because she wanted to keep the status quo and continue the gate keeper mentality of the region.  Skyes on the other hand is smart and willing to go against the grain if necessary from his own party.  He has earned a good reputation and will be a breathe of fresh air in representing this region.

Other races to keep an eye on is Renacci vs Sutton .  Another Machine person beholden to the Democrats vs a Tea bagger whose region has been cut out for him.  Simple, I cannot bring myself to vote for Machine Democrat so Renacci would have my support.

Pernell Jones vs Yvonne Conwell in Cuyahoga County.  Conwell is another Machine person who owes her job to the fact that she is married to Kevin Conwell.  It's embarrassing to go to council meetings to hear her talk.  She can barely put sentences together and shouldn't be in her position at all.  Pernell Jones is a good Council member who has his heart in the right place, however, I do feel he uses the race issue and the fact that he represents very segment of Cuyahoga County as a crutch instead of concentrating on jobs and economic development.  For this race, I would side with Jones in a landslide, however, if Cooper(who lost to Jones in the Primary last year) decides to jump in the race, I would side with him in this race.

On Browns' loss to Bengals...

Yes,  like alot of people, I was extremely disappointed in the overall performance of the Browns in the loss to Cincinnati.  Things like seven penalties in the first quarter and the overall lack of execution at different points were totally unacceptable and needs to be corrected asap.

In saying this, however, we need to put to rest the idea of firing Pat Shurmur after one game and start talking about getting the number one pick in the draft.  This kind of talk not only doesn't do anyone any good but, it shows a bit of ignorance on behalf of the fans in the area.  It also, shows that the fans haven't learned from previous lessons on giving up on certain coaches/managers in the past.

I was overall impressed with alot of the rookie play of Marecic, Sheard, Taylor, Little and others who seem to be contributing one way or another.  In fact, overall I was more optimistic than  pessimistic from the loss.  Please, don't get me wrong.  Winning is the only thing for me but, considering that the Browns mostly beat themselves rather than Cincinnati beating them leads me to believe that they are indeed headed in the right direction with better execution.

I do think the Browns' Front Office should be taking alot of heat from the lack of aggression this offseason.  I do understand the thinking of building thru the draft but, who said that you couldn't have that strategy and sign guys to one year contracts who can come in and be productive role players for this time THIS YEAR??
The mistake was made because of the all or nothing attitude of both Hecker/Holmgren of only wanting to wait for draft picks. Also, they are already assuming that the picks they do make will automatically pan out, which is problematic in itself!!

Ed Fitzgerald...

It has been almost 10 months since Ed Fitzgerald won the election to become the Cuyahoga County Executive and in looking at his performance to this point anyone who follows objectively will be less than impressed with his performance thus far.

To this point  Ed has focused on cutting county employees but, not at the pace that was to be expected to this point.  Only 256 employees have been cut and an estimated (by his numbers) $14.3 million has been saved by the public.  These figures were expected to be a lot higher when we went to this form of gov't, I heard 2000 employees and about $50 million to be saved.

The part that is unacceptable is the fact that Ed has spoken very little about bringing jobs and economic development to the region.  This is indeed the Primary role of the county executive and little has been done to answer these questions.  It seems as though Ed is focusing on making the county more transparent which indeed is commendable but, indeed at some point in time Ed is going to have to address his role as bringing jobs and economic development to the region.

To this point Ed deserves an "D-" for the performance he has delivered to the public to this point.

John Kaisch

Going into the first full year, I have been highly impressed with John Kasich and his administration.  He has proven to be willing to make big and bold decisions no matter who he may or may not like it.  He has shown that is going to work for the best interest of all Ohioans and not the political parties.  This type of government is not only a breathe of fresh air but, sorely lacking in both local and national politics. Gov. Kasich  has accomplished a great deal in going into this his first year in office.

What has impressed me is the creative things that he is willing to do and not worry about the political consequences that might follow. Balancing the budget without raising taxes, taking the funding for local gov't so they are forced to merge, supporting SB5, saving thousands of jobs of companies getting ready to leave.  Helping OH jump 11 spaces up in terms of being business friendly.  Gov.  Kasich has proven to be the right choice for OH  and I can only hope to see more of what he is doing within the next three years!!

Indians trade

I love the Indians deal in which they gave up among others White and Pomeranz( Gardner and McBride as well).  It shows that the Indians front office isn't taking the fact that they are in the middle of a division run lightly and the future cannot and should not be taken for granted.  For far to long the past Indian front offices along with the media and fans have been content with the future.  The future is now and we will worry about tomorrow, TOMORROW.

The biggest disappontment is in the fact that the Indians weren't able to get a couple of hitters at the time of the deadline.  Let's hope that Antonetti can get one or two hitters thru waivers like the Giants did last year.  Remember they got both Aubrey Huff and Cody Ross thru waivers in August.  Also, let's not forget that the Giants were as many as five games behind in September.

With a rotation of Jimenez, Masterson, Tomlin and Carrassco pitching in the final months of the season, no telling how far they can take this team. It will be predicated if Antonetti can find some hitting

On Cleveland sports...

Now that the NFL season APPEARS to be getting underway shortly.  I am very much interested in listening to the Cleveland fans and media in regards to the Browns.  In particular I will be interested to see the browns draft picks, I for one feel the Browns had a n excellent draft and I even feel it was better than last years draft in which the browns got great quality in the likes of  Haden, Ward, Hardesty and others.  I personally believe that Taylor will be a monster against the run, teamed up with Rubin.  Looking forward to Jabaal Sheard but, I feel he will need another proven big time DE on the other side of him to prosper.  I also believe that Greg Little will have the most impact of the rookies that the browns selected.  The reason I say this because he is someone that can catch anything and everything and will look to catch alot of balls from Colt McCoy who doesn't have a strong arm and will concentrate on throwing short passes.

On Colt McCoy.....

I will be watching very closely the balls the Colt throws.  I want to see what kind of throws he makes, especially I want to see if he can make the deep out throw to the sidelines and the deep ball down the middle of the field.  Last year,  I can count on one hand how many times he made these types of throws.  I don't know if it was him or the coaching staff but , I don't think he will have the same excuse this year if it wasn't him.  With Hillis, a healthy Hardesty with Cameron Jordan, Little, MoMass and Robiske,  I think it's time for Colt to put those critics to rest who question his arm strength ( I am one of those critics).

On the Indians...

Shame on those media folks and fans who think the Indians should just stand back and do nothing, simply because they don't feel that the Indians should give up prospects to go after pieces they might need.  These individuals don't learn from previous failures where the Indians had chances to get ballplayers to put them over the top but, elected to go with prospects who either had marginal careers or was later traded for something else that didn't put the Indians over the top.  I would like to see the Indians go out and get Hunter Pence, he would be my first choice because he is an impact player.  Other players under consideration would be Morse from Washington, Melky Cabrera, Jeff Francoeur,  Chris Davis and a few others.  I also, would like to see the Indians get a Super Sub and another starter preferably a vet who can come in and win some games down the stretch .  I would love to see the Indians bring up both Jason Donald and Jason Kipnis to go in their infield.  Donald could play third and Kipnis would be a real stick at second base.

On the Cavs trading JJ Hickson...

This was a typical Cleveland move IMO.  First, the Cavs have no one to start at Power Forward if we were to start the season.  Tristan Thompson isn't even close to be ready to start.  I do like his defense and the fact that the Cavs are making a more concerted effort to improve the defense, however, you  must score at some point in time and the mere fact that you don't have anyone in the front court that can score consistently at all anymore is troubling.  I also don't like the fact that they traded a guy who is 22 years old and over the last 40 games averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds, AT 22 !!!!   I know people mention that he isn't very smart and doesn't get it on defense.  This maybe true but, some times and coaches no how to get the max out of players who seem to be weaker in some areas.  Also, what I find hypocrtical is that the Browns fans will be quick to work around Colt McCoys weakenesses such as, his suspect arm, his limited athletic ability, his propensity to be injured.  They will be quick to defend him but, they will say get other players around him and the players around  him aren't any good.  JJ Hickson has weaknesses, his players weren't very good but, he thrived and was shown the door instead.

One last thing the person they got for Hickson is a back  SF on a good team and will be marginal at best.  THe draft pick you will probably never see, SO  you gave away a 22 year old, who averaged 18-12 his last 40 games for nothing !!!  Also, if money was the issue and the fact that JJ was going to ask for $10 million a year.  I think your argument is weak because Andy Verajao is very one dimensional and is getting $8 million at 28-29 !!!

This was a  horrible move by the Cavaliers and it took away the euphoria I had when they drafted Irving.  Also, the cavs weren't able to pull the trigger on the TPE.  This IMO is totally unacceptable and depending on how the season goes once the lockout ends and the other moves they might make then it might be time to start taking a look at both Scott and Grant to see if they are what we need in our coach and GM.

Those who have failed NEO ...

Simply put, the people of NEO has to take responsibility for allowing the Democratic Machine to flourish and to have a stranglehold on our region.  For far to long the people of NEO have turned a blindeye to those who  say they are representing us but, are really using us to get back into office so they can continue with the status quo.  The status quo in terms of having a greater allegiance to the party rather than to us and grooming others to come in to take their place once they move on.

The problem isn't in the fact that we make these mistakes but, in the fact that we keep making them and putting the same people in office  FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS!!!  I'll give you an example.  The district 7 race for County Council had two very qualified Lawyers  running one being a Democrat and the other being a Republican.  James Levin was the  Democrat and Phyllis Lucia Crespo was the Republican. Both worked hard on their campaigns, however, Yvonne Conwell happened to be in the race as well.  Yvonne Conwell worked in the Recorders office with the big double dipping boss Vivian Greene, in addition  has no education, had no campaign or yard signs, had no website, never attended a debate or forum but, yet she defeated both more qualified candidates by a 3-1 margin.  Yvonne Conwell's only claim is that she is the wife of Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell!!

In going to council meetings and listening to Yvonne Conwell speak it is thoroughly embarrassing.  She can barely put two sentences together and seems very much out of place.  If you were a company and you were thinking about relocating to this region and you spoke with Yvonne Conwell, would you think twice about relocating to  this region ??  I would !!!

I can cite several examples of this type of behavior from our County Executive Ed Fitzgerald onto some of the people at Cleveland City Council.  The key question is what are WE going to do about these individuals ??   Are we going to keep voting  these people in so they can keep misrepresenting our region or become more astute and educate ourselves to the point where we know who and what issues to vote for??  I thought we were on the right tract with the passage off issue six, however, I was extremely disappointed in the fact that we allowed the same people who put us in this mess to get right back into office.

Ed Fitzgerald represents this unfortunate type of continuous behavior by the people of NEO.  Ed Fitzgerald was the city councilman of Lakewood before running for and becoming Mayor.  During his tenure of Mayor Ed Fitzgerald immediately campaigned among the Democratic party to try to oust Frank Russo from his position of Auditor. Soon, the issue of issue 5 vs. issue 6 was on the table  and Ed keeping up with his allegiance to the Democratic Machine campaigned vigorously against issue six.  Ed's reasoning was that the position didn't have the controls necessary for him to support it and therefore, he would vote against it.

Notice that Ed Fitzgerald didn't say I will support issue six but, I feel that it will be enhanced even more if we had more controls to be able to oversee even the executive.  This is where research comes into play.  Ed didn't support issue six because he wanted to be incoherence with the rest of the Democratic Machine and union  people so they can continue to rape the area with their selfishness!!!!  Ed not only campaigned against the passage of issue six but, turned around a month later and ran for the exact office he dared to not want.

During the campaign Ed promoted his FBI background(all 1.5 years) .  Remember, the County Executive main charge is to bring jobs and economic development to the region.  So, the question is why would you elect a person who has NEVER  created any jobs   ?? More importantly, who in their  right mind would vote for a person who not only doesn't have a background in creating jobs but, doesn't even a have a plan get any either ??? This was no surprise because all throughout the campaign Ed avoided the job procurement of the position like the plague.

Sure enough the answer to these questions that I presented is in the African American community.  African African(blacks) feel that no matter what they have to vote for whomever, the Democrat is because of what Dem's say they are going to do for them and Republicans have an unfair reputation of taking away from blacks.  That being said, it seemed as though the blacks rely on SO-CALLED leaders of the black community to tell them whom to vote for. These individuals don't have black people's best interest at heart, they have are in the hip pockets of the party bosses of the Democratic party and Unions to go out and get you to vote form them.  In return they are given monetary gifts and other things.  The name of the game is to keep you ignorant and keep the status quo !!!

Back to Ed Fitzgerald though.  He didn't say anything about bringing in much needed jobs because he didn't have a plan and is incapable of developing one but, he knew that those black so called leaders like George Forbes and Marcia Fudge were going to get you to vote for him(Keeping you ignorant and keeping the status quo is the name of the game).  In doing so, you voted in a guy that clearly seems overwhelmed to the job  that he was elected to do.  Here are some examples on how he is overwhelmed and hence failed in his position.

Ed Fitzgerald was suppose to come in and have an five year economic development plan within the first six months of taken office. In this plan it was suppose to be specific on what companies he was going to bring, expand to bring much needed jobs.  In his May 30th five year economic development plan it says nothing specific on how and/or where he will create jobs, it states our obvious assets and doesn't set a proper course on growing the local economy.  Remember this was the number one charge of the County Executive!!!

Ed within his first six months was suppose to right size the County government to the point where it represented the population of NEO.  One of Ed's opponents mentioned that close to 2000 employees needed to be terminated so even more saving could be created to put towards economic development.  Since Ed, Fitzgerald has taken office about 150 people have been terminated.  That is 7.5% of the 2000 employees that need to go.  It will take Ed many terms to be able to achieve this number and this is not the change that we wanted or expected.

Ed has yet to put up assets like the AmeriTrust towers for sale so the public can recoup some of the money that was squandered by the County Commissioners.  More importantly the it will allow someone to develope the land to make it viable for the rest of the county.  Other pieces of property as well that can be put up for sale and the land bank could be used to see what properties we have moving forward to use or to sale.  Ed has yet to fill this promise as well.

I say these things because if we had paid attention to what these individuals were saying we would clearly understand and see that these individuals don't and can't do the jobs they are seeking but, want the jobs to continue allign themselves with the unions and the Democatic party to continue the status quo and the culture of Corruption.   In doing so we shoot ourselves in the foot because our jobs situation hasn't improved and won't improve with the likes of Yvonne Conwell and Ed Fitzgerald because these individuals are incompetent in the jobs they have.    In order to break this cycle we must get in the habit of not doing what the likes of George Forbes, Marcia Fudge, Dennis Kucinich and others want us to do but, seek out information so we can vote astutely and separate those who simply want the job for selfish reasons !!!

Our Mantra should be :  DESTROY AND TERMINATE THE LOCAL DEMOCRATIC MACHINE !!!

The steps to take....

We in NEO CLAIM that we are tired of being the butt of jokes nationally, wonder why we can never seem to advance like other major cities.  We wonder why businesses leave, why are schools fail, why we can't big time athletes to come without significantly overpaying.  We wonder how and why we got major corruption and why we can never find a perfect formula for using the greatest deposit of freshwater on the universe that would absolutely transform the entire region if put to use properly.

The answer to these issues is quite simple folks.  That is, we refuse to CHANGE!!!  All to often to many people feel they have to do things because that's the way it has always been done, they feel they must vote for a certain candidate or for a certain political party because they voted for them 25 years ago, etc.  These are good examples of how holding onto certain things that clearly aren't working for has caused us to be in the predicament.  Moreover, until we can change our attitude about these things and similar issues we as the people of NEO will continue to the decaying of our area.

In supporting one particular candidate I was stunned to find out how stubborn and apathetic the people in NEO were when it came down to knowing who and what to support. I couldn't but help to notice the reasoning by some people on why they should keep going with the same candidates who are or affiliated with the people who put us in this mess. I listened to things such as:  I can't support him because he's to rich, he wears nice clothes, he has an expensive car, he can't identify with the poor, he won't do anything for black people, I don't support anyone who isn't black, I will wait for my minister to tell me who to vote for, etc.  After hearing these things I couldn't help but to finally come to the conclusion that the people deserve exactly what they get(BTW, the same can be said about different athletes as well).  The disheartening thing about this is that the people don't realize that you destroying the region with this destructive behavior.

This destructive behavior at work is with the County Corruption where to this point around 30 or more of the people with some with the trust of the public within them have either pleaded guilty or implicated in some type of wrong doing.  Wrong doing on any level is never right, however, we must find out the origins of the wrong doing and find away to figure it out on how to never let it happen again.  Fortunately, there are clear cut ways to go about making this change and in doing so we are going to transform our immediate area.

Let go of the past:  Not to be labor the point but, just because you did something before or that's the way it's always been done is no longer a valid reason to keep doing them.  The status quo is totally unacceptable, especially when we know that it isn't or hasn't worked.  Also, be on the lookout for improving and making things more efficient because in the world of diverse groups with various interests strictly being a working class area is looked upon as being more of a detriment than a plus.

Focus on the issues:  In supporting Ken Lanci for County Executive I couldn't help but, take note of how many people were more interested in the car he drove, the clothes he wore and the money in his pocket rather than the ideas he brought, the business experience he brought to the table and the homework he did.  These individuals on the other hand thought the County Executive Race was a Law Enforcement position because of the County Corruption Scandal.  These individuals failed to do the homework necessary to make informed decisions because the County Executive position is a job for bringing jobs and economic development to the area.  If these individuals had paid more attention to the issues rather than the material things then maybe they could have made a more informed choice on who to elect.

Do your homework:  Go back into the archives and research any and all issues about people who we look upon as leaders and who seek leadership positions.  Keep in mind that these individuals don't walk on water and they aren't perfect, however, see where they stand on the key issues pertaining to the job they seek and go back as far as possible to see if they made the appropriate decisions along the way.  If not, then ask them to explain how they came to that conclusion at that particular time.  I was stunned to see that during the campaign season how our County Executive refused to elaborate on key issues such as the economy and how to bring jobs and economic development to the area.  It was clear to me at least that he didn't have a plan and didn't elaborate because he had already had the election won based on the loyalty to the Democratic party by the African community.  BTW- it's apparent that our County Exec still doesn't have a plan that we will show in a later blog.

Stop waiting for someone to give you answers:  All to often people go to church, council people, supervisors and others to tell them who and what to support.  What they don't realize is that these individuals aren't telling them this information based on what's in the best interest for the community but, based on what's in the best interest of themselves and the party in which they serve and you are the bait they are using.  We have certain individuals who come into the black community to tell us who to vote for BUT, when you start asking the tough questions(after having done plenty of research) on why you should support these individuals you will start to hear alot of backtracking and double talk.  These individuals find it profitable to keep the status quo and in doing so are enriching themselves rather than doing what's in the best interest of all of us.

Stop looking at success as being evil:  Successful people and businesses are to be admired.  It's apparent that successful people know things that will help us and that we try to extract as much KNOWLEDGE from these individuals as possible.  Also, we should embrace them because if we don't it comes across that we are so unhappy with our lives that we are willing to bring others down-THE LAW OF ATTRACTION.

Again once we decide who and what we want these individuals will soon fade away because now we are equipped and ready to make informed decisions and not listen to the party bosses who have pillaged and plundered beautiful NEO.

Who do we want to become...

As I look at NEO I often wonder how and why did you end up in the position we are in today.  In case you are wondering the position I am talking about is poor public schools, widespread corruption, massive foreclosures, lack of jobs and economic development, consistent and persistent population loss and brain drain, etc. In doing research I spoke with both friends and family members about the different events that were big in NEO and from that information I couldn't help but point the finger in one direction and that direction has to go to the constituents of NEO.

The people of NEO have allowed jealousy, racial politicking, fear mongering and down right ignorance to destroy what very could be the best city in America.  Make no mistake about it, it was a reason why Cleveland and NEO was called the best location in the nation at one point in time.  If we correct our flaws, we will not only be called the best location in the nation again but, THE BEST LOCATION ON THE PLANET  and we will have people from all over the world coming to set up shop and thrive here!!!

In coming out of this whole we the people of NEO have dug ourselves in WE must come to the realization that how things were done in the past is working anymore and that the status quo is unacceptable more often than not.  Holding onto concepts from the industrial revolution isn't applicable to the diverse world we live in today.  In today's world you have to be nimble and open minded to any and all ideas no matter if you agree with them or not or even they go against your moral beliefs.  The reason I say this because you cannot place your morals on others and dismiss what they may or may not bring to the table because of it.  As I said be open minded to any and all possibilities in today's world.  I say this because we often allow ourselves to get caught up in material things and what somebody said 20 years ago rather than focusing on the issues that are plaguing our area.

We must take ownership of the area in which we are to become and not allow anyone, any political party or race for starters to stop us from achieving who we want to be.  I look at Cleveland and wonder why we are under 400,000 people when the resources we have indicate we should have well over 3 million people in the entire city we are holding ourselves back with the lack of focus of what we want and the ways to go about getting there.

Folks, if we are going to do it, we must do it together and have one voice on how we are going to do it and then we will reach our awesome potential!!!

The Law of Attraction...

Do you ever come across people who no matter what happens they always seem to get the most negative meaning out of everything ??  These people seem to dislike the job they go to, the food they eat and the company they keep to just to name a few things.  Conversely, you have those individuals who no matter what, they seem to look at things in the positive light.  No matter what happens to them no matter if it's a death in the family, no matter if it's a loss of a job or if they are sick in any kind of way, these individuals will extract the positive and look at things in a way that it won't get them down for long or at all.

What has happened in the first scenario is called the law of attraction and these people seem to attract those people who feel the same way they feel.  People who are depressed and oppressed about everything.  They feel like someone is out to get them and feel that success is out of there reach so they paint a doom and gloom picture about anything and everything.  These individuals have a mistrust of people who are successful and will do anything to stop someone from enjoying there success.  This is part of what is plaguing NEO in several different areas.

First, we have become to complacent and caught in everyday life that we forget that the world is so much bigger than NEO.  Alot of the people I am describing simply have not been anywhere or done anything to see this simple fact.  As a result, we feel that the whole world feels or should feel the way we feel even though the world is so diverse .  This is unfortunate because part of the problem is that these individuals are often exploited because they don't have anything to compare NEO to and therefore, don't understand that WE in NEO could be doing so much better if we indeed did open up and tried to explore and find out new things.

If we did find out new things we would see that we are being used by those who say they love us and want to take care of us.  We would see that NEO has a much potential and resources and anywhere on the planet. For example, NEO has the biggest deposit of freshwater on the planet and the proper use of this precious resource could and would transform the region into ONCE AGAIN THE BEST LOCATION IN THE NATION.  I have been to Houston, TX and I marvel at how the Oil and Gas Industry has transformed that region into the 4th biggest city in America and prosperous people everywhere.  Houston didn't blink during the recession because of this precious resource.  I got news for you folks.  Houston would trade all the oil and gas in the world for access to that to that FRESHWATER!!!!

I am saying this we as people of NEO have to make it up in our mind in what we want and work each and everyday until get precisely that.  No more of going with the wind and opposing everything just because you are afraid to make changes.  This leads to complacency and isn't good for the region or for the individuals.  Once we make it up in our minds we will use the law of attraction to surround ourselves with and things will start to happen.  We will start to improve not only ourselves but, our neighbors as well.  We will demand that our politicians are not only ethical but are competent in providing leadership and jobs in the way we want.  It all has to start with YOU !!!!  No one else can make this change.

What we can do in order to make the changes necessary to get us the right track:

Dress apart:  Make sure you are clean and smelling good at all times.  Do this no matter how you are feeling because people will take notice and you will start to feel good about yourself.

Read, Read and Read:  Do this with things you love, however, understand that the world is huge and experiment with things that you never tempted or tried to like.  Read about sports, religion, politics, business, etc.  You never know what might pique your interest until you give it a chance.  You will appreciate the vast variety of different people when you come across them as well.

Surround yourself with smart and positive people.  These people will demand excellence out of you.  You will start to mimic their success and the things that they do.  You will ask questions for tough situations and they will use their experiences in order to help you and if they don't alot of the time they will know someone who knows how to respond in that given situation.

Take interest in what's surrounding and come up with ways to make it better.  This will propel you to start thinking about the individuals who say they represent your best interest.  You will find alot of the time that these individuals don't have your best interest in mind because if they did the work they have done would speak for itself.  You will see that they are using the law of attraction in order to surround you with people who are negative and want you to feel that you can't think for yourself.  They know that alot of people have limited experiences and therefore, exploit you to believe that if you elect them then they will do x, y and z for you

Ask yourself, do these individuals have the background to be able to pull off what they say they can do??  Let's look at previous track records, use the law of attraction in order to evaluate them.  Do the people who endorse these individuals do it because they are the best or if these individuals going to do what they want wants they get into office??

Stop looking at successful people and entities as being evil because they are in fact successful  Alot of times these individuals know something or have a skill that this very useful and it would be wise for all of us to learn whatever we can from these individuals.  Not saying you have to agree with everything but, I find successful people more often than not willing and able to explain and show how they got that way.

These are just a few ways that we can use the power of the law of attraction to turn around not only our own lives but our area as well.

Why we are in this position today...

Cleveland and NEO finds itself in the position today of Massive foreclosures, poor schools, extremely limited job opportunities, massive population loss and the loss of many businesses for a variety of reasons but, mostly do to the fact the people of NEO refuse to CHANGE!!!!!

Change can be a scary thing especially if you haven't done the proper research and analysis to know what you're planning to change to but, on the other hand change is necessary and at times demanded in order to get the desired results wanted and needed. You might ask, when is change demanded??   I would reply that change is demanded when what you have been doing doesn't seem to be working and the alternative is keep getting frustrated with repeated failures or CHANGE the way you think, your behavior and/or actions.  This is the lesson that seems to be lacking with the people of NEO.  I say this because our mindset has to change in order for the region to prosper and realize the  awesome potential the region has.  Once this change occurs we will begin to change our behavior, by this we will start to demand certain things on not only ourselves but, from those around us.  Finally,  our actions will change because we will start to see  the results of the positive changes of our mindset and our behavior in how we think and how we look at things.  We will be to realize that the status quo is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!

You will start look at those officials who say they represent you as only servants for themselves and the parties that they serve and see thru the obvious schemes they play in order for you to keep them in power so they be a gatekeeper for the one's that come after them.  You will also see that how our inability to let go of the past makes it difficult to recruit athletes and makes Cleveland and NEO not the most desirable place for athletes to come.  It will take alot of CHANGE folks, it won't be easy but, you will love the new NEO, WELCOME!!!

Beautiful North East Ohio( NEO)

Being a native Clevelander, I am very proud of where I am from.  I have learned alot and see the awesome potential of not only Cleveland but, all of North East Ohio.

I see a beautiful lakefront, I see World class Hospitals, world class symphony, we have world class educational institutions.  Soon we are to have a downtown casino, a world class medical mart and a new convention center to go along with  our outstanding museums thoughout the region. We also have a history of having tremendous manufacturing.  We have three tremendous professional sports teams that we all should be proud of.

This blog will be highlight our outstanding assets but, the places where we must do things differently in order to become the awesome place NEO can be.  It will take changes and at times massive changes in not only how we think but in our actions.

I am looking forward to this journey with you and at the end we will welcome a whole new NEO, Enjoy !!!!
