Colt McCoy...

Yet again we arrive at a point where we are trying to push a QB with very suspect and mediocre skills because he fits the image of what the county is all about.  Yet again we are at a point where we try to put blame of anyone and everyone because we refuse to accept the fact that the limitations of Colt McCoy are killing the offense of the Browns and making it easy for defenses to defend the Browns offense.  We have seen this movie before with QB's like Brian Sipe, Bernie Kosar, Tim Couch, Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Charlie Frye and now Colt McCoy.

In looking at the Colt McCoy it was obvious to me when he was in college that his game wouldn't translate to the NFL game.  Alot of people jumped for joy when he was drafted by the Browns. I didn't for a variety of reasons.  I didn't see the arm strength consistently downfield and didn't see him being able to throw his receivers open when they were in tight coverage, which is so often the case in the NFL.

Couple of things that has surprised/disappointed me is the that he is unable to recognize blitzes and audible to the appropriate defenses and the other thing is his lack of accuracy in the short passing game.  If you're keeping score we have a QB that is simply unable to throw the ball deep so defenses are able to zero in on certain parts of the field instead of defending the entire field, he can't read blitzes and defenses, therefore, it allows the defenses to stack the box to take away the running game and it allows them to blitz because he not only holds on to the ball to long but, isn't accurate enough to hit open WR's once they are open.  This makes the offense of line look bad because when teams blitz, they cannot block everyone but, someone is open downfield and the QB is unable to take advantage.

The sad part about is that we have those media members and fans who blame the coaches, the WR's the Oline for the obvious failures of the QB.  They fail to realize that the better QB's don't have all pro skilled players, they don't have superior OL's,what they do have is superior QB play that knows how to get the ball to the people when they are open and respected by the defenses so they have to play the entire field!!

One day the people will set aside personal likes and get to the point where talent and skill is what is most important!!!
